Playlists and sessions#
Playlists#
A playlist is an ordered list of songs. Its owner can:
- invite collaborators, other users on the same server. Edits sync to everyone on the playlist;
- share a link (Share link), a read-only public page that works without an account. Turning the link off ends access through it.
You can also send a single song or a whole playlist to another user. It lands in their Inbox, and they decide whether to accept it.
Sessions#
A session is how a band plays from one playlist. One device leads and every other device follows.
- On the leading device, open the playlist and choose Start session.
- On every other device, open the same playlist and choose Follow.
- The leader opens a song. It appears on every follower's screen at once, and when the leader plays, the followers scroll in step with them, at the leader's speed and in the leader's key.
A follower's screen is read-only: it shows whatever the leader shows. Another device can take the lead with Take over, and the leader ends the session with End session.
Sessions need no sharing between your own devices. Sign in with the same account on a laptop and a tablet, start a session on one and follow on the other, and the tablet on the music stand turns its own pages.
